Gates Foundation begins moving into new Queen Anne campus | Development

This month, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation began moving its 700 employees from five buildings into its brand-new Queen Anne campus at 500 Fifth Ave.

A new wave of employees will be moving onto the 12-acre campus, which will eventually include three six-story office buildings, every week this month.

The Gates Foundation will not be giving tours of the campus until June 2, but I snapped these photos today in case readers haven't had a chance to check it out for themselves.

The new campus features sustainable design, such as half an acre of green roofs, an 11,000-square-foot visitor center and digital art installations, but here's my takeaway from my quick walk around the $500 million facility: it's very big and very new.
